MSN weather alerts

I just got my first Garmin about 3 weeks ago (nuvi 780). On Friday we had storms roll through the area and my Garmin was showing a weather alert for my county. This surprised me because I haven't activated my MSN Direct sub yet?

Question: Does the MSN Direct provide free weather alerts even if you aren't a subscriber? As in, the alerts the National Weather Service issues?

Dave

I havent activated mine

I havent activated mine either (780) had it for a year now and its still gets weather for my surrounding counties..im worried if i activate the account with the free trial it came with then when it runs out my weather will go away too..

Traffic activation

I activated my traffic since I am travelling. Gonna see how it does.

ALERTS

cool
You will get weather alerts but not the traffic alerts
and other service which come under MSN Direct!

"Destination Eternity" Garmin 765T, & Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

yes, you get free weather

yes, you get free weather alerts!

my nuvi 680 does the same thing and I get a picture of a cloud and lightning every time it's about to rain smile

It does seem to only give

It does seem to only give them to you if they are in about a 100 mile radius, however.

Hmmm I think

that's why it's call an alert. any larger of a radius and is just near by weather..
