Has anybody compared the Garmin 885t with 1490T.
I finally decided to get 885T until read gpsmagazine.com review which is very positive (as things going I will keep using my C580 and never upgrade).
I know that there are some bugs with unit.
There are always more real world value from user's experience than a single review.
Thanks for your input.

Yea!

Did you also have a hard time comprehending what was meant in lines 2,3 and 4 of the OP's post?
I can’t tell if OP was going to get the 885T, 855T, 1490T or keep using the C580 forever?

I was convinced he's not buying a new unit, but now I'm not so sure. Since he mentions both 885T and 855T (which I don't think exists), there is confusion there as well. Now that I re-read it, I don't know what he's doing. My signature line gives my thoughts about buying any new models.

1 - you are right, 855T does not exist (it was a typo)
2 - I was going to buy the 885T until I read the positive reviews regarding the 1490T.
3 - I am still using my C580, for the same reason you are keeping your 660. I have tried 680, 780, 880 but there was not enough reason to replace my C580.
I'd seriously reconsider buying that 1490T

If I were you, I'd hold up on blowing $500 on the 1490T. I can say that from experience. I've had mine since mid-July and only wish I hadn't given in to the spur of the moment purchase. It's definitely got a problem with storing favorites as Garmin tech support has admitted to me in several emails.
Furthermore, it's annoyingly slow redraw sometimes leaves the entire screen blank for several seconds. I've also had a spontaneous shut off and reset while driving. I'll be off the road in early September and at that time I'm planning on posting my experience here. That'll be after 8 different cities around the country that I'll have used it at.
One last thing--I'm so unimpressed by it so far that I still bring along my 200W which has never let me down. How bad is that where I have to drag around two GPSrs just to have some confidence?

Sorry, this isn't meant as a bashing but I've owned a quest (still owned), a Nuvi 680, (still owned), a 200W, and an 880. The one I go back to time and time again is the 680. It's been a consistent performer for me.
The 880 has locked up more than the Dash Express that I beta tested for 6 months...and it's hard of hearing with the only reliable voice command being "go home." IMO, the processor is a bit weak for the software. Could be wrong, but the two I've owned both exhibited the same symptoms. I've decided to replace it with a 765T, which seems to be as rock solid as the 680 with the current firmware.
