Uploading Sounds to the Kenwood DNX5140

I have the Kenwood DNX5140. I know how to download POI.GPI files to the gps. However, I can't figure out how to load sounds. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds

Sounds are part of the POI.GPI file. You put the sound file into the same folder as the input POI file. If your unit will play MP3 files, you can use MP3 alert sounds. If not, you need to load the WAV version after installing SOX.exe into the Program Files/Garmin folder holding the POILoader.exe file.

As you have a Kenwood, there is no guarantee it will recognize either file type.

Sounds

Are you familiar with the Mac version of poi loader? Are the sounds part of the poi file when uploaded to the 5140? I tried to upload both mp3 and wav files to the 5140. But, when I did it would not upload to the custom poi file, but, rather it began playing like a music disc. I'm not sure what to do. Thanks in advance.

No.

I have no experience with the Kenwood units or loading them. From working with the Garmin units I have, the sound file is run through POILoader at the same time as the POI file. POILoader outputs a POI.GPI file that has everything linked and loaded into the file. My alert sounds do not reside on the Garmin.
