Have you gotten a ticket after you have the Red Light/Speed Camera POI setup?

Just wondering if anyone....now that you've installed the Traffic and Speed camera POI's...has gotten a ticket because you missed hearing the warning sound or spotting the screen icon on your particular GPS?

Today I was driving, thinking about something intently and the speed camera sound went off on my GPS as usual at this one regular trap, but I snapped out of my thoughts only to react to slowing down in time, I was going 58Kmh in a 60Kmh zone so I was OK, but a little bit more cognizant of the fact that it's easy to be distracted by thoughts as well as warnings and beeps.

I don't make it a habit to speed, but am much more careful to be driving exactly the speed limit when my GPS signals an approaching trap.

Cheers!

Thank God NO!!!

didn't get one before Red-Light POI's and so far have not gotten one to date, but I guess that has a lot to do with driving the speed limit and taking reasonable care looking at the habits of those around me.

No tickets as of yet, but I sure slow down when I see the don't walk flashing. It will flash about 10 times and then turn amber, then red.

Not yet!

The alerts have kept me out of trouble so far! We had a new speed camera set up near us a few months ago, and most people seem to be getting caught. They are all intrigued at having a GPS with alerts on it - Garmin might get a few more sales as a result!

Speeding Ticket

I got a ticket in late June for going 104 kilometer per hour in a 90 kph zone. That's equivalent to going 9 mph over the speed limit. But it was a radar van and not a stationary camera.

I have no excuses, as there were signs announcing the slow down from 110 kph to 90 kph, and I was probably 500 meters past the 90 kph sign when I went by the van. I paid the $89 for my stupidity

Ticket

I didn't but my wife did. It was one of those classic moments.

She's complained about the alert sound from the Garmin repeatedly.

Red Light Camera Ticket

Nope. I've been lucky.

But than again... I never got a RLT before I loaded the file on the GPS either.

But It's been close a couplt of times.

Only because in Baltimore City... the yellow light is almost non-existant. If you blink you miss the yellow.

It has been said that they did away with the yellow light so they can give out more tickets.

If you ever drive thru Baltimore City... BE CAREFUL around any interesctions.

No but..................

No tickets since installing the POI but then I don't recall ever getting a ticket for running a red light in the first place. I find that paying attention to my driving is the best way to avoid tickets, accidents, etc.

Seems like a very simple solution to the whole issue of red light cameras.

I got a ticket from a cop in a van with a camera, my Garmin had no clue......didn't expect it would. But not from any red lite cameras. It keeps you on your toes.

I know it's not possible,

I know it's not possible, but it would rock if it could know about the vans too!

Where are they using camera vans?

No, but I am a more careful driver when it comes to lights. Had received 3 before at all different locations, but am a more respectful driver, thanks to Miss POI and company.

tickets after speed camera POI's loaded

I've been attentive to the warning chime, but would appreciate if I could set it so there was less distance between the initial chime and the speed camera. It gives me a warning chime about .8km before the camera. But I've sometimes become oblivious to subsequent chimes - because the first one alerts me, and the others I don't always hear. A .3km advance warning would be sufficient for me.

before....YES,since......NO

got a very expensive Left Turn On Red....(behind a van and didn't see the green arrow change) which changed my thought of possibly buying a GPS to positive action.

Nope.

I use the sound of the klaxon ("red alert") from Star Trek. It's loud, annoying and gets my attention. I set the Red light camera to go off 0.5 mile away and the speed camera 0.25 miles. Since most RLCs around here have a radar gun too, I get two warnings when approaching them.

No. Though I don't think I

No. Though I don't think I would either without POI. However the POI files help one be more alert and allows myself to not think about trying to pass the yellow.

All over Arizona, highways and city streets. The saving grace is, they're required to post a sign several hundred feet behind the van warning that there's speed enforcement ahead. Anyone paying normal attention to their driving is guaranteed to see the sign in plenty of time to slow down. The drivers they catch are the day dreamers, cell talkers and others doing something other than driving.

My wife used to laugh at me turning on my GPS all the time

but she went out the other day and saw 4 speed cameras on her way to drop off the kids at camp. She turned on the GPS on the way home and every camera was in the database and alerted her to slow down

Now I hope I don't receive any tickets in the mail.

This is a great site.

..

You can reset the distance chime to come on 1km, 1.5km prior. Any distance actually just go into the POI loader and do manual, not express, and you'll be able to.

Yes

I was distracted and the light changed to yellow.
There is no warning sound in my GPS so I could only try to go faster.
Did not make it. so I got a ticket in the mail. sad

None before..none

None before..none since...

If I'm in 'a mood', I've been known to sloooow way down on the approach..then mash the go pedal thru the intersection.
500 HP cars tend to get the message across that "That guy is REALLY being 'cautious'..Heheheh

Hey! If YOU get nailed behind me? Either LEARN that the RL cams are just revenue generaters...or get a 500HP car. grin

No tickets here. The poi

No tickets here. smile

The poi files make it easier to identify potential "traps" and "hazards" along the way...

No tickets

Actually I haven't received a ticket since I have been married and raising children. I guess "lead by example" works many ways. And that was in the last 29 years. Red light camera POI is almost useless to me because a 100 or so feet before the light is a sign saying there is a camera. I always see that, with or without my GPS. I guess unlike some others, I like knowing what is going around me, I think that comes from riding motorcycles for 30 years or so. One mistake on a bike and you can loose your life. It is a lot simpler to keep an eye on everything in the road, than to recover from a painful if not fatal accident. As far as speed cameras, they are against the law in Illinois. Well to permanently mount one. They get by this by putting them in Marked Vans. And they spend most of their time in Construction Zones. There have been several attempts to repeal the law, but it has so far failed.
