Clearing Via Points

On a Nuvi 760. Any good way of doing this without hitting "stop" (which cancels the entire route) or going deep into the routes menu and deleting it there?

If I simply go past a turn will it just assume I want to keep going on my route or will it try to give me new directions until I get to the via point?

via point

it will keep "recalcuating" to get you to the via point.

I have not found a way to remove a via point from a route. I believe you need to hit "stop" and then start over with "Where To?"

Lame

You can do it if you go into "settings/routes/current route" then "add/delete points". How cumbersome...

I'm a moron!

Duh! Can't believe that I forgot that!

Good call Sacasmo48!

a few miles

It will only recalculate back to the via point for a few miles then it will just carry on with the rest of the route.

260w stops after a few miles

I agree with onestep.

My 260w will stop trying to recalculate and redirect you back to the via point after a few miles.

Kinda of annoying to hear Karen trying to take me back ... but like my wife, she eventually figures out I'm not listening.

Depends on how close you are to the Via Point

If your Via Point is a store or restaurant and you just pass it by without stopping, it will figure you went there and continue with your route. If it's something farther away, it will try longer before it gives up. There is a distance factor involved, but I don't know what it is. If I enter a Via Point and then change my mind, I usually just cancel the route and start it again.

That's The Way I Do It

It's inherently obvious and soooo easy.
(To avoid any doubt, yes that IS sarcasm).

I don't have enough patience ....

I don't have the patience to wait for "Jill" to figure out that I changed my mind. Her incessant "Recalculating. Turn ..." drives me crazy long before she gives up! I have to stop it and start over.

She reminds me of someone else .... confused ... surprised!!! laugh out loud

Not necessarily

It depends on the accuracy of the unit and the exact location of the POI. I set one via point for a restaurant and even though we stopped and ate, even drove completely around the building, the only way to clear it was to stop the route.

I agree

I've found that as well. It may be my imagination but it seems to happen more often with the newer firmware updates than it did when I originally bought the 760.

I had a case last week where I set a location in a friends driveway. Later in the day we were returning to that location and then going on to our final destination. Driving into that same driveway the via point did not clear.
