Garmin 885T voice level

I'm a owner of Street Pilot 580C which has two built in speakers, the announcer's voices are loud. I am considering to get Garmin 885T.

Has any one compared the voice level of 885T with 580C?

885 Voices

The TTS voices are soft until you use the voice editor to increase the level. I bumped mine to 95% and run the speaker volume at 90. Sounds fine now.

And if you should call

And if you should call garmin about it they will tell you thats all the volume you can get.

I used the voice editor and turned the level to 95 also

I used the voice editor and turned the level to 95 also and the navigation voice prompts are now plenty loud even with the volume of my 885T set at 80.

885T

Hi,
thanks for your reply,
it seems that I have taken similar path to upgrade as you have done. Even I returned the 780 (it did not impress me, my 580C out performed it); I would like to try 885T.

What is your impression of 885T?

Thanks Al

I really like the 885T

I really like the 885T. It is more similar to the 760's features I liked then the 765T is in a lot of ways but has the lane assist and junction view that are very handy. The thing I like best is the voice control and that has spoiled me so bad I really miss it when I use the other units. In fact I have put the 760 on Craig's list.

How loud

I was wondering just how loud you want the voice. I use 50% volume on my 750 and 755T and the voice is loud.

Nuvi 750 and 755T

I have no problem with my ears, but when the car is doing 70m/h the tire noise gets into the cabin and made it difficult to hear directions on the Garmin 780 with full speaker setting. There are many Garmin Nuvi users with similar problems, according to Garmin the 885T with two speakers onboard matches C580 model.

The 750 yes, you have one

The 750 yes, you have one outstanding 755T if you can hear it just fine at 50% lol......

Either that or a very quiet car.

In my '94 V8 Mustang GT, I need all the volume I can get.

885T Voice Issues

Bumping up volume using TTS editor as well as slowing the speech rate helped a lot. In fact I think it sounds best specially using male voice with above setting. I previously owned Mag 4250 and TT 930 and seems above tweak on Garmin 885T produced best result.
