POI - strangeness

I created a set of POI for a hotel chain - but when I loaded it I don't see it under the extra's but when I search for something that should be in it in the regular lodging area I find them.
I made this list from the chains web site and included icons and several pages of description for each point. I also set the category for each point.

Oh, and instead of loading it directly to my garmin - I had poiloader make a file in a different directory and then renamed the resulting poi.gpi to lodging.gpi and copied it into the poi directory.

Is this normal - the category and the separate gpi file are really the only things that I can think of that might distinguish this set for any other.

The "regular" lodging area shows the built-in POIs that come with the maps; they have no connection to your file. The custom POIs can ONLY be reached via Extras.

If you copied the Lodging.gpi file to the \Garmin\POI folder, it should show up under extras. I suggest you re-check the file name and location.

I'm not sure what you are asking here.

Ok, I see now, I just got similar results becuase the one I chose was also in the built in poi list - it doesn't have all my details. But my poi list didn't show up at all - so I guess I'll have try loading it directly.

I always load directly, but it should have worked by copying. Before loading again, I would suggest that you at least clarify whether the lodging.gpi file exists on the unit (or card), and whether it is in the proper folder. If it is, something is really wrong, because it shouldn't matter how it gets there.

It is on the unit in /garmin/poi and the unit still has 986Mb free.
I used this list on my own trip earlier this summer.
