when you can neck with your wife AND girlfriend at the same time. Four screens in one Drive-in, each serving up two movies every night almost in my backyard.

It is a big field with a picture screen where you can go park and watch a movie from your car and neck with your wife or girlfriend at the same time.
Drive-in theatres were big in the 1960s, but there are only a very small number left. We used to go to the all-nighters - 4 REALLY bad movies in a row - and have a blast
Although they were popular up here (Canada), drive-ins faced two problems... First, we tend to have short summers and it's hard to watch the movie with frost on the window (some drive-ins did provide in-car heaters)! Second, it doesn't get dark up here until 10 PM and we often fell asleep during the second movie.
If you swap out the CA.htm#Industry in the first one listed ( http://www.driveinmovie.com/CA.htm#Industry ) with mainmenu.htm - http://www.driveinmovie.com/mainmenu.htm you can actually look at each state that has drive in theaters. I'm lucky that I have 3 within a 45 min drive, and during the summer months kids in pj's, back of the van, watching the movies like I remember
Brings back memories of when I was a kid. One of my earliest memories is seeing "Planet of the Apes" at a drive in with my folks, and also the cartoon between the movies showing dancing hotdogs, popcorn, etc., going to the consession stand! Ha!
in Amarillo TX about a month ago, was running the current release of Transformers. Guess they use low power FM transmitters now (for stereo sound) rather than the box speaker that hung on your window. Brings back memories of a great period. Must be showing my age, definitely remember going with my parents in the early-fifties. The cartoon to start, the playground next to the concession stand, the lines at intermission.... When I was in high school, remember sneaking buddies in past the ticket booth in the trunk.

The drive in had the window speakers and one time my dad pulled up next to a pole with a box that had wires bunched into it. Be in construction, he couldn't just drive away. He poked at the wires with his finger. I made a "Zzzzt" sound and it scared the heck out of him. He turned around and gave me "the look". Then he started laughing too.
I love going with my kids too. Maybe we'll have to take Grandma and Grandpa out too some time.

Thanks for the Non CA links.
Thanks for the Non CA links. I was looking for a drive in in PA and this helped me find some. Unfortunately, none are all that close to me.

We enjoy watching the kids play before the feature. Backing in the old pickup & using lawn chairs is the best. Here is a pic of Ma & me.
