Magellan

I have a magellan maestro 4250...can someone tell me the process to load the red light/speed camera info onto this device...

I also have a garmin zumo 550 and it was a breeze...however, as is usually the case with magellan, everything is a bit tougher.

Thank you...

Try a search......

You need the Magellan POI Editor software.
The use of that has been covered here is some detail. It may even be in a Magellan FAQ.
Search around a bit.

magellan continued...

Okay, I got the editor and created a .mgln file from the redlight and speed camera .csv files...I then think I got it onto the magellan...but, I have no idea how to access the file and get it to work.

Magellan reallys stinks compared to Garmin.. I have the 4250...

Can someone help me get the file properly onto the magellan and tell me how to activate it?

Thanks...

magellan mess continued...

I tried copying the files onto a SD card and I put the SD card into the 4250...I went to the “Points of Interest” --> “My POIs” --> “Change My POI File” --> “Display Categories” and all I got was a

'Please enable a POI file in the My POI section'

this means nothing and there appears to be no way around this...

Someone please help...thanks...

You have to

insert the card with the unit on. If you insert the card with the unit off, it doesn't recognize that anything has changed on the SD card when the unit is turned on.

okay...

I did it again and was able to go to points of interest...my pois....change my poi file....display categories...checked the name and then hit save...

does this mean that all the categories are now loaded onto the magellan?

thanks...

Also, does the SD card need to stay in the magellan for it to work? (I hope not)...

Yes....

Yes. Why is that a problem?

If you had used the POI editor to send it to the Magellan, it would have put it into the main memory and then you wouldn't need to mess with the SD card at all.
