This Accessory is not supported

So I had one of those interminably long "loading maps" delays today with my 760. In frustration, I shut it off, waited a few seconds and turned it back on. Booted up very quickly but displayed "This accessory is not supported / OK" before going to the enter your PIN screen.

Wonder what it was talking about?

Accesssory is not.....

I believe that the 760 has Bluetooth. My guess it that someone was close by who had a device (cell phone?) with the Bluetooth 'ON' and your 760 picked up the signal.

Usually it's referring to

Usually it's referring to the traffic receiver, which is in the power plug. I've seen this before on mine on a screwed up restart.

Just ignore it, it should go away. If it doesn't they you may have to do a hard reset. Hold your finger on the lower right hand corner when starting up. You will lose your Favorites.

Search on Saving Favorites, to see how to preserve them before resetting.

Also, next time you have a long time "Loading Maps" leave it alone. It's doing internal housekeeping and shouldn't be disturbed.

I thought of traffic, too

I do have the traffic receiver, and Bluetooth was turned off. It went away after clicking OK and did not come back. And it recognized the traffic receiver when I put it in the cradle.
Sure wish they would fix that bug. It started with 4.6. Really tired of those random l-o-n-g startups, sometimes taking 5+ minutes while it sits on "loading maps".

@ johnc

You may want to try clearing your unit's triplog to help alleviate the very long "Loading Maps..." message on powering up the unit. Give it a try and see if it helps.

I use my 760 everyday. I use it to route about once a week. I usually only clear the tracks when I think about it, which is maybe once every month or so.

I only see the long load time maybe once a month. I have only a few custom POI's loaded, and 7 Audio books on the SD Card,

My suggestion is still to copy the current.gpx file off. It contains your Favorites, and do a hard reset. Make sure that you keep your extra stuff on a SD card. Audio files, Extra POI's, etc.

Also, if and when it does appear to be taking a long time to load, let it finish. If you are stopping it and restarting it, you are stopping it in the middle of it's boot sequence. Same as if your interrupted Windows in the middle of it's boot sequence.

Sometimes

I had the long delay once. I didn't have time to screw with it, so I just left it sitting in the cradle in the car as usual as I made my way out of a crowded parking lot. Once I got out of the congestion, I looked at the GPS and it was running fine and I have not noticed it happend since. I don't usually ever clear my track log.

If the other comment about maybe it was doing some internal house keeping, perhaps just leaving it alone for a few minutes while it does its thing is a good idea.

There have been several long

There have been several long threads about this. Search on defrag if you want to have a look.
