ecoroute

Just a observation. When I went to FL last year I had a Streetpilot 340 with latest 2009 maps. When returning to VA I had a Nuvi 265 with 2010 maps.Returning back to Va I noticed no difference in the routing using the 2010 maps.I have the ecoroute installed on the 265 but don't use the save fuel routing but the fastest time.

Recently while in Va.A place I have went to several times before in Norfolk using the 2009 maps on my 340 always took me about 3/4 of the way down the interstate.Using the 2010 maps it took me about a 1/4 of the way using the interstate then through sections of town.At first a little hesitant to take the new routing by decided to give it a shot. When returning back home I came back using the route given in the past for the 2009 maps. Not using ecoroute you can still get the mileage reports.I found that using the 2009 map routing amounted in 7 more miles compared to the 2010 maps and I did save a couple of minutes with the 2010 maps.

Based on this and other post's I don't think having the ecoroute install has any thing to do with the routing. My thoughts are that the 2010 maps have change how you are routed.Waiting to see what the next lifetime map update does.

Between the 2008 and 2009

Between the 2008 and 2009 maps on the same unit, I noticed a marked propensity for the 2009 engine to take more direct routes on lower class roads when Interstates and limited access roads aren't available.
