POI alerts aren't always working

The position of the coordinates is too far from the road on which you are traveling. Both of the files that you mentioned that are working, have been tweaked to make sure the location is in the main roadway or just off of it.

In order for an alert to trigger, the POI must be within 50 ft or so of the route you are traveling.

It is where the coordinates for the location are. For the rest area file, the alerts are at the exit ramp from the road to the rest area. For most, if not all the fuel stops you mention, they are at the actual location of the business. A coordinate has to be within approximately 50 feet of your current route of travel to trigger an alert.

If you make them TourGuide with a manual poi load of whatever distance you want it would find them. If you use the standard file it won't see them unless it's on the road you are on.

Check your POI file itself to see if it has those locations where you expect to receive the alert.

You may have found a red light camera that is either not in the file, or perhaps, the coordinates are off by just a little bit.
