Magellan 4700 is out now

I wonder if they are as user UN-Friendly, as their hand held counterparts?

Probably not in the POI updates or add on's from here. But a stable unit (1470). Price is pretty good also.

the new software ver. 2.20 released in 2008-09 is still so far out of date.
I just got the 4700 & after talking to the peoplr at Magellan I can understand why they are so far behind Garmin. I have a wall Mart 2 miles from me , been there for 3 years but the Magellan do not list it, also the VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. has been there for 30 years or more, not listed. Magellan does not know why & can not help me.

I wonder if they are as customizable as the Garmin units. The price is tempting.

Got an email from Magellan about a month ago, they said a new map update was coming in June, so will see, love there products, they just need to get up to speed on map updates..

Already own a Magellan GPS navigator? The 2010 Spring Map Upgrade is coming soon. A simple download will update your compatible GPS with the latest highways, streets and POIs!

And yet ANOTHER different way to load new maps.
First it was a CD, then an SD chip, now.......a download.

I hope the price reflects their GREATLY reduced distribution cost.....and I hope they have an option available for those who don't have a high speed connection.....or any connection at all.

the POI for the Maestro 4700 are way out dated.
Last version was for the spring of 2009. ver. 2.20
the more I read about Magellan is the lack of up dates.
plus you can not download any POI to the SD card.

This is not simply a Magellan problem. My Garmin doesn't have a police station that's been there for 30 years.

I report such things to NAVTEQ's error page. I guess this is the only way to clean these things up. But with countless locations I can understand some problems, but not really 30 year old ones.

2010 Update is available Version 39, hopefully they will update more then they have been, lots of new roads in my area (Tucson) and POI'S

i agree, this unit has me makeing a left turn over a blvd that has been there 21/2 yrs. going in cntinuous loops, also not finding restaurants that have been ther 20 yrs.
