AC Broke -

Well, thank God it's not too hot here in Sacramento. Normally in the high 90s but, due to a low pressure area off the coast, it is about 10 degrees or so cooler.

Good for us. Our air conditioner blew up - yep blew up 'cause it's 30 years old - and it will take them a week to get a new one installed. How lucky can one be? The timing was perfect!!

End of GPS devices

It would seem that with many of the smart phones adding GPS capability the days of stand alone GPS devices may go the way of the buggy whip.

I had a great 4th! My son called me at 6am on the 3rd to let me know he was back in the states after 9 months in Iraq! By the end of this week, he should be home with his family! And we weren't expecting him back for at least another week or 2.

Very glad to hear that your son is back on U.S. soil, safe and sound. Be sure to thank him for his service and sacrifice for the rest of us grateful Americans.

Thank you to all those with service!

Great 4th trip

Well, back from our 1st trip with the GPS, and it worked great!!! Did "hiccup" once (twice, if you count going home the same route) when we went through an area where there was road construction and the road was shifted over enough to trigger Jill. The GPS (Jill) thought we'd missed our turn, and she needed to figure out another way to go!!! (changed the "recalculate" to something a little less annoying... grin ) Also, our youngest daughter got a kick out of using the GPS to find her way around the Jacksonville area. worked out well.

We're some time away from that... so far, all these "jack of all trades" devices are a master of none... My 765T is far better than any GPS app I've used on my Blackberry Curve.

My friend has GPS on her cell phone and was bragging about it when she first got it. After a few months she was asking to borrow my Nuvi, as she said trying to use GPS on her cellphone "sucks".

Anybody noticed that cops

Anybody noticed that cops are out more and more lately? Seems like as the economy tanks the tickets go up to compensate.

GeorgiaBII

I don't think that there are

I don't think that there are more cops out. I think what you are seeing is more cops stationary due to the fuel and budget constraints.

Around here, even the State Police have a mandate to spend at least 10 minutes out of every hour parked with the engine shut off to conserve fuel.

When Police are running the roads, you might have 10 of them withing a mile of you, but since they are running in the same direction, you won't see them. If they are all parked in the median, you will see all 10 and think they are swarming all over the highway.

sun spots coming

"The sun is putting on its own 4th of July fireworks show. A new sunspot is rapidly emerging in the sun's southern hemisphere and it is crackling with B-class solar flares. The magnetic polarity of sunspot 1024 identifies it as a member of new Solar Cycle 24. It appears to be the best offering yet of the young solar cycle." (This was written by a ham radio operator that uses the effects of sun spots to bounce signals around the world.)
