How to get original pois back on garmin 350?

How does one go about getting the original pois back on a Garmin 350 once they have been overwritten?

I loaned my nuvi to someone and they "reloaded" the pois..... I had told them not to do that... Arggg!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Not sure what you mean by

Not sure what you mean by "original".

But if you mean the ones that you put on and now they are overwritten, you can just reload yours again. That will overwrite the ones that the person loaded, unless they renamed the POI file to something else. Then you can just simply delete that one and reload.

Custom POIs?

If you're talking the custom POIs - go through the menu on the device, delete them, then use POI loader, and put yours back.

Original ... ones that came with the 350

The 350 came with about 6 million pois loaded in it...

As I understand things... when you load custom pois into the 350... you can overwrite the 6 million...

So, how do I get the original 6 million pois back?

Can I download them from Garmin? I checked and don't see how...

Thanks

.

The built in 6 million Points of Interest are part of the map data.

They are COMPLETELY separate from the Custom POIs that you might load.

There is no way to overwrite the built in POIs by loading Custom POIs.

And the only way to delete the built in POIs would be to delete the map file.

You did

have a backup didn't you?

I'm not certain if the factory installed POI file is tied to the unlocked maps on the unit or not. My new unit has a 14 MB POI.GPI file in the POI folder that I'm pretty certain came from the factory.

If you have updated the maps since you bought the unit, you should be able to reload them which should restore the POI.

That's correct, the 6 million (some think most of them wrong smile) are part of the map data.

are you sure the default POIs are gone?

Just clarifying that when you look for nearby places or choose items from the "Where Am I" menu there are no places? If so, the person who you lent the GPS to must have really done something drastic to your device.

If that is the case and all the default POIs are gone, then seconding the recommendation to reinstall your maps from mapsource or getting the latest map update for your device from Garmin.

I figured the more of the same answer you hear should make you a believer lol.

Motorcycle Mama is correct.
