Here is another elementary question. I have uploaded routes from Mapsource to my GPS, and it works great. However, I tried to upload waypoints, and Mapsource says the data was successfully transferred, but I don't know where to find it on my unit. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Look on your device under "Favorites"
In my (old, dead) 765T, you go to TOOLS - MY DATA - IMPORT ROUTE FROM FILE. This will import the routes which will then show up on the Custom Routes page.
What Mapquest calls Waypoiints
Become Favorites when transferred to every Nuvi I've ever used with it.

Yes,
Become Favorites when transferred to every Nuvi I've ever used with it.
But ROUTES (from Mapsource or from Bing, ones I am familiar with) are not imported into Favorites, they remain in the Custom Routes section when imported.
Original post asks about waypoints
And I answered that.
Correctly.

Correctly.
I am not in disagreement!

Waypoints and Favorites both refer to exactly the same thing; places you have saved on the unit or in MapSource (or other PC software), either by searching for an address, place, intersection, etc.
"Waypoint" is the term used for many years and is what I was (and still am) used to. "Favorite" was introduced with the nuvi series, supposedly to make things more user-friendly(?).
"Waypoint" is still used by the hand-held (hiking, recreational) GPS units.
