HEEEEEELP (ecoroute)

MAN. I hope someone can help me, I have a 265wt. I am having problems with the ecoroute. When I turn the unit off after I get out of my car for the night, when I return to turn it on the next day, my ecoroute has done some pretty serious traveling while I slept. When I turn it on, even if i reset the data before I turn it off it states that in my fuel report that I have upwards of 22,000 miles and upwards of.......get this,,,,,50,000 mpg average fuel economy. While I would love the mpg to be true. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS?

And the earth is how big!

Sorry I have no idea but I note it is interesting that the circumference of the earth is approx 22,000 miles. Probably just a coincidence.
Great mileage, what kind of car do you have?
Seriously, couple of suggestions: try turning off the unit before you get out of the car as the unit may think it is still working and compute the spread when you turn it back on the next day - ergo 22,000 miles when it re-acquires the satelittes. Also, check teh time zone as that may be affecting you again when you turn the unit back on!

yep, I tried turning it off, I tried leaving it on. Same thing.

Check time zones

subject says it all. try setting the unit to a different time zone and see what happens.

Check the reports

Check the mileage and fuel reports in the tools and see what trips it has you taking when it is turned off.

doesent show any trips

and there is no way to

and there is no way to change the time zone on the 265

I've already sent it back

I've already sent it back twice , first time they sent me someone elses gps back. I'm about fed up with Garmin.

Run webupdater and make sure

Run webupdater and make sure you have latest update.A while back there was update for eco route.

Have you tried a reset.Hold finger on bottom right of screen while turning the unit on.Keep finger pressed until pop up screen appears.Touch yes to clear all user data. All original settings will be restored.Note you will want to use mapsource and transfer your favorites so you can send them back after reset.Or hook gps up to computer and go to the Garmin folder then gpx and make copy this is your favorites. If you still have problem you need to call garmin.

.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but why are you even worrying about ecoroute? It's already been shown in other threads that the ecoroute feature is just a gimmick which doesn't actually reflect anything meaningful.

You Aren't Going to Get YOUR Unit Back

You have no reasonable expectation to get the same unit back that you have sent in for repairs. Your original unit you sent in is sitting in a pile of thousands also sent in for repairs. When it's finally chosen for repair, it will be sent to the next person on the list.

Garmins' warranty promise is normally to either, fix your's, send you a new unit, or send you a refurbished unit. At their discretion.

I would expect there are too many units being processed through the repair facility right now for them to even consider a direct turn around.
