I have the nuvi 350, and one problem I have is that it always navigates me towards the 407 as opposed to the 401. The 407 is a toll highway here in Ontario, Canada.
Is there anyway to ensure the nuvi will always navigate me to the 401 and not the 407?
You can put check mark in
You can put check mark in avoid tolls and see what difference it makes.Where to,navigation, avoidances then touch enabled for the settings.Be careful with this setting it may well take you a lot farther out of your way.

407
I agree with charlesd45 about setting the avoidances. However, I suspect your 350 feels this is the fastest route. What area are you starting and what area of Toronto are you going to? I know Toronto well (not looking for personal details). It's quite likely that this is truly the fastest route, apart from the stretch by Winston Churchill Blvd during rush hour.
I just simulated a trip on my 350 from Kitchener, to Markaham and it used 407. When I checked to a=void Toll Roads, it used 401.
It's quick and easy to change, in case you want to actually use the 407 someday, just uncheck toll road.

Set the Avoid Tollways option

The problem with that is that it will then NEVER user the tollway, even when it really IS the best choice.
The Garmin routing engine seems to always look to getting you on the largest road as soon as possible. This is usually but not always the "best" way. When you know of a different way that you prefer or is actually better, just go the way that you want. It will figure it out quickly, recalculate and adjust to the way that you went.
Set To Avoid Tollways
That is true, but it will still continue to try to reroute you back to the tollway, for a fair distance, when the Tollway, runs more or less parallel to the Free Highway.
In some cases, you might simply want to avoid paying a toll, but are not familiar with the route. In that case, you're not totally certain how long you should avoid the annoying, "Recalculating".
I would still prefer to temporarily check Toll as an avoidance.

Thanks
Hey guys, this is great advice. I'm in Markham and I travel to Brampton/Sauga quite a bit as it is in the west end and I prefer the 401 because it's free.I will try the suggested tips and let you know how they work out for me.
Thanks again!
I have yet to test it

Simulate
If you don't have an opportunity to physically test this, then, simply go through the motions, but keep you antenna down. This will allow you to simulate the drive, as though you were in the car. Click on the top center of the screen and it will show you turn by turn directions. Look at the bottom of the screen and touch "Map" in the center bottom and it will show the actual route on a map.
You can simply go through the simulation, but it does it in real time, at about the same speed that you would drive.
