POI Loader not loading POI's in the unit

I just downloaded a bunch of custom POI's and when I searched for them on the unit I found that even though I am pretty sure I put them in, some of them are not there. I used the manual method putting in custom proximity alerts. Are the files corrupt? They look OK in Excel.

Did you look in where

Did you look in where to,extras then touch custom pois last?

Did you load all the custom pois at one tme?

Here is the method not using subfolders.

1.Make a folder on your computer and give it a name. Example My poi's.
2.Download the csv or gpx file and put them in that folder.
3.If you want to add a bmp or mp3. Download from site and also add to the same folder but make sure you name them the same as the file you want them to go with except the extensions.

>My pois=Main Folder
>>Dunkin Donuts.csv
>>Dunkin Donuts.mp3
>>Dunkin Donuts.bmp
>>Walmart.csv
>>Walmart.bmp
>>Walmart.mp3

4.Hook the gps up to computer using usb cable and then run poiloader . http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/http://www8.garmin.... Select My pois folder when you get to browse.
5.If you want alerts use manual mode instead of express.
6.You should get message so many pois are loaded at the end of the download.
7.On GPS go to where to then extras or my locations if you don’t see extras and touch custom pois and you should see them.
8.Every time you run poiloader it will overwrite the existing files.

I have it broken down from a main POI folder into sub folders, retail, food ect.. Obviously I download each one separately. I will try to re download one of the smaller ones and recheck it. By the way what do I put when it asks me to choose the settings for a GPX file alert settings?

That's the problem

Unless you are renaming each POI.GPI file after running POILoader you are overwriting the existing file each time you run the program.

Point POILoader to the top level folder and let it load all the subfolders at once unless you want to rename or move the POI.GPI file into the proper subfolder on the unit.

Thanks!

Thanks. Your absolutly right! After playing around with it I realized what was happening. I guess I thought I knew the file system better than I did.
Any words of wisdom about loading the gpx files? Can I just load them with a speed alert of 1mph. I can’t use the ignore option can I. They should have built in alerts right?

gpx alert

When you run poiloader in the manual mode for csv or gpx files you can set the alert by distance or speed, your preference.I find it easier to use Extra Poi Editor and build the alerts in using gpx files http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor .Just download your file to Extra Poi Editor.Select edit, replace field. In pop up window for field name using down arrow select proximity and new field value put in ft you want for distance. Then click replace all. This sets the distance for each custom poi in the file. Then save file as gpx.You can now use express mode in poiloader instead of manual.
