Copy Pre-Installed Map

Warm greetings to everyone!

Glad to know POI where GPS users can share and interact with each other! I have a totally newbie question. I have a Garmin Nuvi 250 with pre-installed Singapore map. I'm going to Europe soon. My friend in Europe has a Nuvi 765 with Europe Map 2010 pre-installed. Can I copy his Nuvi's map to my Nuvi 250? I was thinking copying all the files in his Nuvi and pasting them in mine.

Is it possible?

Thanks!

Sincerely,

The maps are tied to the unit.

The maps are keyed to each unit's internal serial number and if transferred won't work as the key is missing when it is checked at boot up.

Please, please do not discuss illegal software hacks and pirating here on this site.

The maps are copyrighted, protected data. They may only be used on the unit to which they are unlocked.

In order to use the maps on a different GPS units, you would need to purchase additional maps from Garmin.
