Garmin Discounts?

Hey All,

I was thinking about picking up the nuMaps lifetime update, then I noticed that there is a new place for a discount code.

Before I ask, Miss POI, is it OK for me to ask if anyone has any knowledge of these codes?

Garmin discount codes

I received an email from Garmin with a discount code good for merch bought on their web site a while back. I got it from them after buying something else from them online, I believe. That is the only discount code I know of.

I ended up using it to buy a cover for my Map 60CSx.

Typically, purchasing the maps from an authorized third party retailers is less expensive than purchasing them directly from Garmin.

Check out GPS City, Provantage, Amazon.

Third Party

I agree, the third party vendors is the way to go. I got mine at compuplus for 95 plus shipping.

you would think

Garmin..should be the Cheapest place to buy it..but they always seem to be the Highest.on everything. I love the product...but sometimes wonder..I will say it is hard to beat Bestbuy on the Friction mount...does anyone know about a place to get the lifetime Traffic.

Dealer loyalty

I can see why Garmin would not want to undercut their authorized dealers. It would be hard for a retailer to sell the product if the manufactuer was undercutting their price with direct sales.

3rd parties

I've started to get "into" buying stuff on eBay. Make sure the vendor's rating is high and you (almost) can't go wrong.

My most recent eBay purchase is my Garmin Nuvi 370. Before that a replacement LG VX6100 cell phone and belt clip, and before that an AC charger for my laptop computer. I've also shopped for other stuff.

Garmin has to protect the distributors, wholesalers and retailers. And by doing has to price protect them by making their prices unattractive to you and myself.
So in actuality they are pushing toward the retailers!

In Canada

I've seen some great deals out there, but as soon as you add in border tariffs, it make it most expensive, and no one in Canada seems to sell either the downloads or the shipped items sad

Any other Canadians found a place to get this stuff, or am I just going to have to bite the bullet and buy it from Garmin?

Also GPSCentral.com

Both are located in Calgary.

Odd...

Odd, both of these places change the same or more + $12-$15 for shipping...

Guess for the automatic DL in Canada makes more sense, because it's cheaper, to buy it at Garmin.

I have purchased a few items from GPS Central and found their (Canadian) prices quite reasonable compared to Best Buy, etc. Of course, I live near Calgary and drop in - but they're not open on weekends.

Lifetime maps

Bobby....Garmin 2450LM

Costco sells NuMaps Lifeteime Maps NA

Costco sells the lifetime for $99.99 plus about $5.99 s/h. Any better deals from reliable sources out there?

Lifetime maps at Amazon

$95 and free shipping.

Watch for weird inflation

On eBay, I see many GPS devices being purchased at prices higher than many on-line dealers.

So, be careful not to get carried away...the best thing to do is research prices, decide what you'll pay, bid that (eBay uses proxy bidding, so that's your max). If you get it for less, great, if it goes over, you're not screwed.

Got it!

Hi All,

OK, so I looked up a bunch of Canadian stores and whatnot and was about to give up and shell out the $$ for the download right from Garmin, as there were no local stores I could go buy it from for less then $146 CAD, then on an off chance I called up my local TigerDirect.ca store and asked them if they had any in stock, they did, then I asked them if they price matched, they did!!!

So I printed out the $120 price from GPSCity.ca and got it for $118.

So now I've got my lifetime maps and just in time for my trip out east smile

Thanks to everyone here for all the help!

And hope this might help out other Canucks in the GTA smile
