"imaginary" synching of routes from Mapsource to Nuvi 706

Ok, there's probably an answer to this question somehwere on the garmin site or here, but I havent found it yet.
I suspect i know what the source of the problem is, but i;'ll get to that after the explanation of the problem.
Problem:
GOt a full copy of Mapsource 2008 on my computer. I've generated a couple routtes, and send them to my device. Every thing seems to go fine, till i turn on the gps and go to /tools/Routes. No routes.
ANyway possible source: i HAVE installed the mapsource CIty Navigator 2008 on a new computer.I can see the maps fine dispite the fact I got errors unlocking them again.
Other possible source: I got the free upgrade to City Navigator 2009, which is on my gps. Gotta dig out the dvd I burned the update files onto. its in a box with several hundred other dvds
Remember to import the routes

I had the same problem, then realized that I had to "import" the routes before the 760 could see them.

I gotta admit, i have NO clue what you mean when you say "import" - just not an option i can find anywhere in the menus

Import the routes on the GPS, not the Mapsource program.
