Keep an eye on Europe

Even though the principal focus of this website is North America, it doesn't hurt to keep an eye on what is happening across the pond. Things that happen there can sometimes get copied in other places and there are also users from this web site that may travel there.

i wonder what they're doing

i wonder what they're doing about cell phones

insane

Radar detectors as bad as Aggravated DUI?? What on earth are they thinking?

Quote:

The most serious punishment of all goes to anyone convicted of attempting to thwart a speed camera with a laser or radar jamming device or a radar detector. This represents more points than is awarded for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) and is equal to the number of points for an aggravated DUI.

Just watch your pocket!

Had my pocket picked (quite artfully) this spring on Barcelona's clean and efficient metro.

Go, but BE CAREFUL! redface

Cheers,

GPS Use.

Hi everybody. I'm spanish citizen and I'm sorry to say that there is an small confusion about that law, probably coming from a poor knowledge of spanish from the guy that wrote the news.

The law explicty says in spanish:

f) Conducir utilizando manualmente dispositivos
de telefonía móvil, navegadores o cualquier otro sistema de comunicación.

and the translition should be:

f) Driving while manually managing devices such as mobile phone, GPS or any other communication device.

So you can USE a Gps or cell phone inside a car while driving, but you cannot enter data, or modify , if you need to get your hands out of the wheel to do it.

You are encouraged to avoid use of cell phones but you can use it if you have a handsfree device installed.

Hope this clarify the matter.

Come to Spain and bring your GPS device with you.
