How do I figure out which map is on my unit (4050)? I think it just says ver 27. Does that equate to 2007?

It could be even older than 2007. When I purchased my GPS in November 2007 it was preloaded with map ver. 29, and this map was from 1Q 2007.

I have version 28. Still pretty old, I should have no trouble navigating from Boston to New Amsterdam...
Map Version
I think the latest version is 31- there appears to be no obvious explanation of version numbers. Check the Magellan website for latest versions. There is even an update to the 2008/2009 version already.

I saw on the Magellan site that the latest version is 31. My issue is that my unit (refurb) is 4 days old. I'm OK with the idea that a refurb will potentially have an older map, but that should be a one version "lag", maybe 2 if a new one was just released.

There wasn't a map version 30, at least not for the Maestro line. My update went from 29 to 31 and before I purchased the map ver.31, version 29 was the newest one.
Map version
My newest RM1412 came with ver 33. Don't know if the version numbers are the same across the different models.
