TomTom announces ‘White Pearl’ special edition
2 June 2009 – TomTom has today announced the White Pearl – a special edition navigation product with a twist! The White Pearl’s stylish, pearlescent design makes the perfect gift, as well as appealing to the driver who likes a touch of glamour in their car.
With a chic pearlescent finish and matching EasyPort™ folding mount, the White Pearl is a departure from the typical look and feel of a TomTom portable navigation device. The product is decorated with a subtle ‘swirl’ pattern, which is beautifully expanded on the start up screen.
Based on the TomTom ONE IQ Routes™ edition*, the White Pearl ensures that driving is safe and stress-free but also includes some brand new features : special Points of Interest such as, ‘Places to be seen’ and ‘Shop ‘til you drop’. Covering everything from restaurants, bars, cafes, coffee shops, cinemas and theatres to fashion and home furnishing stores – the White Pearl gives drivers the ability to explore new places.
The White Pearl and its mount are presented in a luxurious silk drawstring bag, which also keeps it clean and safe from any knocks and bumps.

Style over Function

I guess that appeals to some people. The TomTom ONE with IQ routes is a good GPSr, I don't think I'd pay extra for the style though.

Too Bright

White don't work well under strong sun light on dash board. I prefer black(dark) frame.

What next? A pink Garmin?

Oh yeah, guess they already did that! smile

As a native Clevelander with my own memories of going downtown to see the Christmas window displays as a kid, the movie has many interesting moments for me. Just some quick thoughts:

* During the shooting of the opening parade scene through downtown Cleveland, it was so cold that morning (shot around 3AM), that they had to import snow because there hadn't been any recently and it couldn't be manufactured due to the temps.
* The family's house was never used as an interior scene--only the outside. The guy who bought the home spent $250,000 renovating the inside to look like it did in the movie because it was nothing like the soundstage version.
* The shed where Black Bart and gang climb through really is in the backyard of the home.
* I now have "leg lamps" of every size and type, from the original size, to a clock, nightstand light, nightlights, Christmas ornaments, etc.

Yeah, it's weird, but like Ralphie said, that lamp was like "the glow of electric sex." smile

They are very expensive

My neighbor puts his "glow of electric sex." smile in His living room window every Christmas season. He told me he paid $340.00 bucks for it, is that right?

I beleive he bought it across the street from the Christmas house.

Sounds like folks know about "Leg Lamps"!

I have seen prices in that range because you can buy the lamps from a variety of sources. Across the street from the Christmas Story House that you refer to is their official store and ticket booth. I do recall seeing a lucky guy with one under his arm when I went to visit the house earlier this year. I was lucky enough to have cried about it so often that I received mine as a Christmas gift!

BTW, although difficult to tell from my pic here, my lamp is proudly displayed in my living room window every day in full view of the local Channel 3 TV studios. I sometimes wonder if anyone there has ever looked out and noticed!
