Has technology changed such that cameras are also different today?

I'm used to the old boxy cameras 1/2 way up the block and mounted low, as far as red light and speed cameras are concerned.

But take West Hartford CT, for example. They have some sort of experimental program, and those cameras look just like traffic cams, and apparently cost only 13k each. Is that why so many new ones are going up? I had thought that a few years ago, a red light cam cost a million dollars, or am I crazy??!

I think along with everything else....

As technology progresses you are going to see things change and improve... look at PC's or digital cameras.

To your comment... I think we are going to see the traffic, red-light and speed cameras get smaller and easier to hide. Along with that the clarity and detail will also improve.

If you want to have some fun one day... the next time you are running around town... count the number of cameras you see. In the Dallas and surrounding areas it is amazing... they are everywhere.
