Base map for Nuvi 265WT

My dad just purchased his first Nuvi, a 265WT. He ocassionally travels to Europe and wanted to know if this unit would work over there.
I believe there is a UK map that can be purchased. However, if he does not purchase that, is there a base map on the unit that will show you basic, main streets, highways, cities, etc?
I'm not sure what to tell him, but I know someone here will know.

Couple of options.
First option is to use the built in basemap. But the basemap only shows major highways and cities. It doesn't show streets. It's pretty much useless for guidance purposes.
Second option is to purchase one of the European mapsets from Garmin. Maps range from $100 to $150. They can be purchased on a memory card so your dad would just pop the card into the unit and select the Europe map.
Third option only applies for London. Garmin offers the CityXplorer map for only $15. But its limited to the London area.

I just bought the City
I just bought the City Navigator Europe NT 2010 in Toronto for $99 US, free ship, no tax on an SD card. Just slip the card in your 265 and your ready to go. You can use the SD card in most units and move from one to another. The drawback is, you can't read maps from the card on your PC, so you can't use it in Mapsource for example. The good news is you don't have to replace your existing North America map on your unit to use it. You can also get just the UK & Ireland but there is not much difference in price.

The other drawback is that you can't purchase an update when one comes out...you have have to buy a new card to get the newly updated data.
