Thanks again for another wonderful article.

Just wanted to comment on a couple of things. Instead of creating a separate favorite for each marker why not create a custom gpx file for the course? That way your favorites don't get cluttered.

Another benefit of creating a gpx file is that you can attach pictures and detailed notes about each hole. For example you could take a screen shot of Google Earth to see the layout of the whole course. Or you could create a note for each hole which includes club and distance information.

There are a number of programs to create gpx files. I personally use GeePeeEx Editor but there is a free program called Extra POI Editor which works just as well. http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor

GadgetGuy2008,

Thanks for the suggestion. I have included an addition to the original article referring to your thoughts and have given you props. I am sure the author (Michael Dorsey) will be happy with ideas, such as yours, that will encourage the use of the nuvi on the golf course.

Additional Golf Article Using POIs

I've posted still another article about using your nuvi on the Golf Course.

This time it directed toward using Custom POIs as markers.

See Recent Additions or POI Page 5

I want to thank all the POI Factory followers who have commented most favorably about my Garmin Tricks, Tips, etc. site, either through various postings in the many discussions here or via direct e-mail. It is a fun project for me and keeps me out of the strip clubs.

I also want to thank those who have contributed articles to the site as well as those who have furnished information that has been included in existing articles or may have been the basis of a full article.

My intentions have always been to present the information in an interesting and attractive manner and hopefully in a format that a newcomer could follow. I attempt to eliminate problems by guiding people around pit-falls and speak in the most basic terms -- when necessary.

The site is really not designed for the techie but for the nubee who needs a little hand-holding and step by step guidance, which, many times, is not in the manual.

Your continued input is appreciated.

I can see the article now, "How to disguise Strip Club POI from the significant other." Better get writing Gary. After all, look at the research it will take!
