Map Out Of Date Warning

This morning when I hooked up my GPS before heading off to work (I always listen to audio books during the drive) I received a warning I've never seen before. The entire screen displayed a warning that my maps are over a year old and should be updated. I was quite surprised.

Yes, that's what I did. I was just really surprised by the warning. They seem to really be pushing the sale of maps..........

Be forewarned. The out of date screen comes up about once a month. Annoying but that's business!

Built in Nag Screen

It is a built in Nag Screen. I first noticed it on my nuvi 350 a couple years back, but have not seen it on my 760. - Just do as the other posts suggest and hit OK. The unit will function normally.

mine GPS pops that message up on a regular basis, not everytime, and I haven't bothered to figure out how often, but maybe once/month?

I recall that this was the frequency with my 350 a couple of years ago until I sprung for the new map. It was a good purchase at the time because the area I just relocated to was updated in the 2008 map-set so I was happy.

Update your maps??
Sorry, there's no way to change it. It's based upon the date of the maps.
Nag
I have a nuvi 350 that is several years old and I have never updated the maps but the update screen has never come up that I can remember. Maybe mine was purchased before they thought to add the nag.
It's a feature that's really a bug
If this is like antivirus software and similar products that depend on you updating their product so they make money, we can expect that this trend will only get worse. By that I mean, the nags will grow in frequency and annoyance as new models are designed.

i just got the new 2010 map for free on my garmin it comes with Mexico and Canada too
