Garage sales POI

Does anyone have an easy way to create a POI of garage sales? I have seen the Garmin POI maker at http://www.cthreepo.com/poi/ It seems simple and straight forward enough, but was wondering if anybody has any experience? I have a 200w and it can't route, but I could load to favorites maybe and just go to each one individually. Not the most direct way but at least my wife would not have to type in 5 or 10 addresses into the GPS. I have already changed the keyboard to near QWERTY, but it is still a pain. Thanks!

Try this

I do a lot of estate and garage sales, load around 5 to 15 a week,
This is how i do it, from the newspaper or what ever your using i do a cut and paste for the address, then I open another window and go to google maps, then paste the address into google maps and then send it to the gps, on the gps page i make changes as needed in the address line and then in the phone number block you can put more info in there, not just numbers, I use the subdivision that i know and that way you can get a idea of where your going. then send it all to the gps.

hope this helps you out.

I got it!

That's exactly what I was looking for! Very simple. I can show my wife how to do it very quickly now! I think I have an idea for routing (by renaming in some alphbetical way) but will have to do some playing around with this first. Thanks a lot!

My Locations

You can also use the "My Locations" feature here at POI Factory.

Thanks for the info...

I will play around with that also. Love your site, by the way. I come here often!! Downloaded rest areas, McD's and Wal-mart POI's in the past. Keep up the good work. Also, became a fan on Facebook!

Extra POI Editor

You may want to try this free program http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor

It has a built in geocoding feature so all you need to do is type in (or cut/paste) the addresses and it will find the lat/long. You can also add comments and phone numbers.

Garage Sales entry

Thanks for the great suggestion. I get tired of hand typing each entry into my Nuvi 200.
Tried your method and it works great. Had to install a Garmin plugin on my Macbook to make it work but all is well now. Send the addresses to my "Favorites" so can delete them after using same.
Thanks again.

Tried it...Love it!

I got to try this out this past weekend. Worked like a charm. I didn't have to worry about routing, it sorts by distance from where you are now, so it works out just fine to move on to the next closest sale. Love it!!

Always driving to the closest will not guarantee that you reach all of the locations; nor will it guarantee that you have the least total distance.

Miss POI

I looked at the faq and can't find out what "My Locations" is. I have seen it but don't know anything about it. Is there a page that tells about it?
Thanks

Finding Lat and Lon

Is there a way to be able to enter an address that I already know and then have "My Locations" fill in the Lat and Lon? Otherwise, I need to go to another site to find these and then come back here to fill it in manually. I am just looking to save a few steps.
