Always Turn Off Stolen GPS Units
It was only a matter of time before some numbskull criminal stole a GPS-equipped car or phone, but we didn't expect someone to steal live GPS units. A group of crooks in Lindenhurst, NY swiped 14 functioning GPS devices from the Town of Babylon Public Works. Understandably, authorities had no trouble tracking them down.
Since none no normal member would even consider using a stolen GPS Unit, this clip is for humorous consideration only. (don't give me a hard time)

This happened about two years ago, but from what I remember when it happened, it wasn't GPS receivers that were stolen - they were GPS tracking units to enable the town to monitor vehicle use.

These thefts are also a reason why you never set your "home" location at your house/driveway (so if your unit is stolen "on the road", they cannot just use it to go to your house and watch when you leave)... or your brothers house or any other persons actual house that you visit on a regular basis.
I have my "home" set up the street and same with friends and family's places. There are enough vehicles that are the same or similar make and model and color as mine within a half mile of home.

That is why I went with a basic older model... no need spending more than $100 on something that could potentially be broken by the kids or stolen.
