The only reason Active Status matters is not bragging rights but that if you are graded as an active member you get free access to the enforcement camera POI files. If you want access to those files without maintaining active member status, you can pay a nominal fee and download them for your GPS.

It's a good system. It works.

I know how Roadventute feels. I've been here a while and posted several messages and don't really know how close I'm to being active.

I assume most of the POI file are created by members so its in our interest to keep members.

When you log on, go to you account and you will see this data:

I agree. I paid the $20 fee not knowing how much I would be able contribute, considering the obvious knowledge of those already here. Found out, reading the posts is an education and begs one to comment and add to the conversation.

Miss POI

I agree completely. The collective knowledge of the site members is amazing. Reading through various posts and the FAQ section will provide more information than most users will ever need.

that when I announce to my wife, "I'm active!", she just rolls her eyes.

I get a similar reaction from my wife... nothing to be concerned about.

but I did delete the Tim Hortons POIs. In Canada you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one and in the U.S. they are somehow...different?!?! Coffee and donuts just don't taste the same.

I think it is the water in the coffee. To support my theory beer is better in Canada as well. Aside from the water where else can you get poutine.

My wife is the same way about my GPS stuff.... She complains that my GPS unit is my new girlfriend...my wife and kids have named my GPS unit 'Helga' for some reason. And I don't even have a German voice on there...

My wife gave me the same reaction. Then she took a trip and used the gps. That was the end of the comments and I'll probably have to get one for her vehicle.

On my account page it does not list the qualifying activity like your. I've posted several times already.

Yes, it is activity. the account status is updated weekly, on Monday. So if you check your accout again on Monday, you should have credit showing for this week.

You need 3 weeks to down load POI files. So it does not matter how many times you post each week.

Only for Redlight and Speed Cameras not the other custom pois.

Any post is activity. Even this one.

I visit and post weekly to stay up on what's new in the GPS / POI world.

I notice that my active status as been lower.( I lost my active user Icon) One thing I wish that this web site would keep track of how many times you visit this web site, I come here 2 and 3 times in a week,but if you do not post any messages your active status go down.I just wish it was not the case.

Yes, you have to post to remain active. Simply logging on does not count.

The idea is to keep the site active & current and it's members involved.

Otherwise if we all logged in as Driver 38 suggested and just come in to look after a while there will be nothing to look at.

don't let that bother you, it doesn't seem to bother anyone else...do chit-chat, etc, had to do it myself a few times, but it's well worth it...you'll see!

Loose mine every summer, when we go on holidays.

Also just send in POI files, Icons, or sounds to get the credit too. Just logging in wont do it.
