Progress toward active status?

I haven't been here for a while. I haven't had a need to be here......

But, now I am back and looking around again and there is this "Progress toward active status" thing I noticed. What is this? Are we being graded on our participation? Has a some kind of caste system been established?

Am I worthy?

Pete and Repete were rowing a boat...

There's another active, current thread on this same topic near the top of this same page your thread is listed on, road.
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6293

The only reason Active Status matters is not bragging rights but that if you are graded as an active member you get free access to the enforcement camera POI files. If you want access to those files without maintaining active member status, you can pay a nominal fee and download them for your GPS.

It's a good system. It works.

Active status

I know how Roadventute feels. I've been here a while and posted several messages and don't really know how close I'm to being active.

I assume most of the POI file are created by members so its in our interest to keep members.

one step closer....

How to tell

SilverSable, after logging in, click My Account, and it will tell you how close you are to being an Active member.

Participate

Participation is good. The more you contribute the more you will learn.

Participate

I agree. I paid the $20 fee not knowing how much I would be able contribute, considering the obvious knowledge of those already here. Found out, reading the posts is an education and begs one to comment and add to the conversation.

I agree completely. The collective knowledge of the site members is amazing. Reading through various posts and the FAQ section will provide more information than most users will ever need.

Nothing new

but I did delete the Tim Hortons POIs. In Canada you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one and in the U.S. they are somehow...different?!?! Coffee and donuts just don't taste the same.

Funny Huh

I was thinking the same about the stuff North of the boarder!
Bangers & Mash?? what the heck! who eats mashed potatoes with sausage for breakfast?

I though my GF was gonna lose it...right at the breakfast table. I didn't know her face could turn that shade of GREEN!!!

It's the Water

I think it is the water in the coffee. To support my theory beer is better in Canada as well. Aside from the water where else can you get poutine.

My wife is the same way about my GPS stuff.... She complains that my GPS unit is my new girlfriend...my wife and kids have named my GPS unit 'Helga' for some reason. And I don't even have a German voice on there...

wife

My wife gave me the same reaction. Then she took a trip and used the gps. That was the end of the comments and I'll probably have to get one for her vehicle. smile

The beer has more alcohol....that is why it is better.

Yes, it is activity. the account status is updated weekly, on Monday. So if you check your accout again on Monday, you should have credit showing for this week.

Any post is activity. Even this one.

And a chance...

Yes, a chance to have our famed Miss POI hsow us her great smile.

Where we we all be, without her ?

And don't say "I don't care, I have a GPS to tell me where I am" - cuz she helps us all in using them magic talking boxes to their fullest ability.

Miss POI, this was a Hail to you, you deserve it ! We're even talking about a status or something in Cannes, city of Movies !

loosing your active status

I notice that my active status as been lower.( I lost my active user Icon) One thing I wish that this web site would keep track of how many times you visit this web site, I come here 2 and 3 times in a week, but if you do not post any messages your active status go down.I just wish it was not the case.

Post

Yes, you have to post to remain active. Simply logging on does not count.

The idea is to keep the site active & current and it's members involved.

Otherwise if we all logged in as Driver 38 suggested and just come in to look after a while there will be nothing to look at.

don't let that bother you, it doesn't seem to bother anyone else...do chit-chat, etc, had to do it myself a few times, but it's well worth it...you'll see!
