Maestro & SMS Text Interface - How's That Working Out For You?! :-)

Greetings,

I have a Maestro 4370... I love it. I'd be hard pressed to find a unit which had better overall accuracy and more features for the $. But (and you knew this was coming!) -- I have Bluetooth working, MP3 player works fine, FM Transponder is great, etc. -- BUT I can not seem to get SMS working between the 4370 (running most recent publicly available firmware) and my phone (an AT&T Fuze - aka HTC Diamond Touch).

initially I had a hard time pairing the phone with the Bluetooth of the Magellan, but the last time I did it, it seems to have "taken" - it's been good for a few weeks now! smile

So my questions are:
1) Has anyone else been able to use the SMS features on the Maestro unit(s)? I presume if it works on a 4350 it would work in a similar manner on a 4370 - but that's a presumption.
2) If you DO have it working - what type of phone do you have?

All hints, tips, etc; are appreciated.

Thanks,

Pete

same problem here...

I have Garmin nuvi 765t bluetooth paired with Motorola KRZR K1 and exactly the same problem, no SMS and on top of that nuvi shows voice dial but it doesn't work at all.

Not on 4250

I have a Maestro 4250 and I can't connect to SMS service either. I never bothered to check with support about it, but maybe I will.

Still Awaiting A Definitive Fix...

I can pair my AT&T (HTC) Fuze, but still can't use the SMS features of the Magellan. *&^%$#@!. I think it's the Magellan and NOT the Fuze. I can pair the phone with essentially any other BlueTooth device and take full advantage of the other devices features (incl. my laptop, headsets, etc.). The other messages here from other users seem to bear this out as well. Guess I'll have to go to the Magellan site and see what they say (if anything).

Maestro 4370 & SMS Follow-up : Maggie Speaketh Thus

Ok, so I went to the Magellan site. I wanted to be a good boy and check the FAQ stuff and see what I could find out about SMS on the Magellan 4370. So I had the following 'conversation' with "Maggie" - Magellan's automated online assistant. This doens't bode well for those of us that wanted to use SMS:

You should be able to figure this out even if you're not familiar with Maggie, etc.

Guest SMS
Maggie I am not sure ...
Guest You want to know if Maestro has the SMS capability.
Maggie So far, you've told me that:

* You want feature information.
* You want Maestro feature information.
* You want to know if Maestro has the SMS capability.

Maggie The SMS option is not available in Magellan Maestro units.

Grrrr!!! That's total BS. IF that were true, why are there editable / canned SMS messages on the 4370? Why are there functional menus which take you to SMS operations? It all works great... EXCEPT that SMS (per se) does NOT work. It certainly appears to be "available" (just an aborted implementation, perhaps!). Sooo, my question to Magellan would be: When are you going to fix what you started?!?

All comments, tea & sympathy welcome!
