POI's on a 765T

I can't get my custom poi's to work on my 765t. I followed the instructions listed with the Garmin Nuvi GPS Tricks and Tips Web site and can't get them to work. The one file I downloaded was Bank of America ATM's and there is one around the corner from my house but the alert dosen't come on.

The tricks and tips web page states that you have to turn on the proximity point alerts, which I have and then it states to make sure your attention tone is turned on and explanes how to do this with a 650 nuvi but I can't find this on my 765T. I don't know if this is what is stoping them from working or not.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Brian

Are you sure it loaded correctly? If the BofA poi loaded correctly, have you tried setting it as a destination? Is the mp3 file named exacttly the same as the poi file except for the bmp extension? Are you sure you don't have double extensions? When you loaded the poi file did you use express more or....

As you can see there are many reasons an alert will not work.. Above are a few...

The biggest problems with the alerts and icons not working are the files not being named the same except for extensions and having double extensions. Double-check each of them. The best way to prevent double extensions is to go to your folder options in the control panel and click view then find hide extensions for known file types and remove the check mark. Click ok.

To get an alert, you have to SET an alert. The easiest way to SET an alert is to run POI Loader in MANUAL mode (not EXPRESS) and it will let you set an alert at a distance of your choosing.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

My poi's now work.

As you said I checked the file names and all three, bmp, mp3 and csv had slightly different names. I renamed them and reloaded them and it worked fine.

Thank you for your great advise.

Also, can you have multiple poi's loaded? Mom & Pop burger joints and BofA ATMs or should you only have one file at a time?

Set up a folder on your computer and copy all your POI files, icons, and alert sounds to the folder. When you run POILoader, it will take the contents of the folder and convert them to a single file called POI.GPI on your Garmin.

If you set up subfolders under the POI folder on your computer, you can organize the POI and have your unit show them as categories. Subfolders can only be one level deep.
