Any online retailers selling 2010 maps?

Hi Folks,

Does anyone have a link to someplace selling the 2010 map updates on DVD? Also, would it be less expensive if I just purchased the update to my nuvi 660 from Garmin rather that the entire maps on DVD?

Thanks!

Clint

If you are going to spend $70 or so for the 2010 map you may as well buy the lifetime updates for $99 from Costco online. It will be good for four updates a year as long as you are able to use your unit.

I'd also like to know if they're available yet

My DNX7100 wont take the lifetime subscription, and I dont see the availablity of the maps on the Garmin site yet.

Lifetime subscription compatible

You might check with Garmin as to whether or not your unit is compatible. My C330 was not listed on Garmin's webpage as being compatible, but I emailed Garmin's product support with my model and serial number and they said that it is compatible.

I have not yet purchased the lifetime subscription, so I don't yet have any personal experience to share on this topic.

Found one

gpscity.com is letting people pre-order the 2010 update with an estimated ship date of May 6th.

Amazon doesn't have it yet, but the reviews for the 2009 version started in what looks like the second week of May in 2008, so they may be somehwere to watch.

I have the Kenwood DNX8120.

I have the Kenwood DNX8120. Since I couldn't get the numaps Lifetime to work (different thread) I'm going to just go with the SD Card.

What I wish is if they'd make it clear on their site what works and what doesn't. They have what looks to be a map update for CN NT 2010 maps but it doesn't actually say 2010 - just the graphics for the disc/SD card look updated which suggests it's new.

Worse, the Kenwood pointer on their site still points to the old CN NT 2009 maps and the product number is different.

It seems like the maps on the SD cards would be equivalent and the 'Kenwood' maps would really just be the regular maps (esp. since zierk0310 said he installed the DVD maps straight to his Kenwood earlier). Of course, I was wrong with the nuMaps.

It just seems like a needless shell game on Garmin's part with this when they could just say, "Hey, the SD maps are the SD maps and will work with any SD map device," and/or, "The DVD maps are just straight up maps and if you can plug your device in via USB then you're good to go." (and treat the nuMaps Lifetime the same way).

I don't see the 2010 map

I don't see the 2010 map update listed on the Costco website. Do you happen to have a link to the maps at Costco?

In addition, I just might wait till Wally World is carrying them, they usually sell them for a few bucks less.

Actually, it's about half that

Last year I bought the 2009 map DVD for about $54 online. I expect they will be available in that same range this year. Based on the forum messages concerning troubles with the incremental upgrades, I'm going to wait and see if any of that affects the yearly map update.

GPS city's price

...is great. I bought the 2008 update last, and got it from Amazon as I recall for $80. or more. I've got a Nuvi 350 that's starting to show it's age, taking ever longer to find satellites for some reason. Not sure if life time maps are worth it for me. This update will hold me for at least 2 more years.

Prices are (as usual) all

Prices are (as usual) all over the map with online resellers. Far cheaper in the US than in Canada. Love the resellers that claim it is because of the exchange rate/duties/etc.

Most of them add 50% on the US price and say "Bend over buddy...".

That is why I maintain a US address!!!

LOL

Problems

I downloaded the 2010 maps from Garmin and have had absolutely no problems. It has many new POI's and the unit works just fine. Don't understand why people are bashing the new map release...

Update the firmware to the latest version using Garmin webUpdater. My 16 month old 260 is much faster now in getting signals, when switched on as well as while driving!
