updates
Hey JM,
Do you anticipate more updates for the i series? Do you know if there will be any mapping updates to NT ver. 8? I have found a few errors in Boston, Cape Cod and also RI. I hope we are entitled to at least one free update due to the high cost of Maps.

map / poi updates
For the benefit of others, let me clarify that links I provided above are for the software (aka firmware) that runs in the unit. Maps and POIs are updated separately.
Software updates are released throughout the year. Current models are often updated several times per year, adding new features and fixing bugs.
Garmin releases map/POI updates once each year -- usually around July / August. They get their data from Navteq and other sources, and it's not unusual for it to take a few years for road changes and new POIs to be included.
One of the projects we intend to tackle at POI factory is keeping a database of new POI locations that aren't yet included in the standard GPS database. Similar to the red light cameras, it will be free to active members and available to others for a small charge.
Road changes are a lot more complicated. These you'll need to report to Navteq and wait for updates through Garmin.
