POI loader question

I like the .gpx files because of all the xtra detail in the POI's. For example I am going to florida soon so added the olive garden gpx that has phone numbers and stuff. But I also have a csv file with ALL the olive gardens listed. Does anybody know if one overwrites the other? Also, I put an mp3 alert and named it the same as the csv file, will it work with the florida olive gardens? should I remove the gpx file and just use the csv? or does it not matter?

Lots of questions, but I'm new to this still.

Thanks

Go Leafs Go.... Well, maybe next year ;(

you can mix csv and gpx

you can mix csv and gpx files when you run poi loader. As far as mp3 files and bmp files, just make sure that they are named exactly like the csv and/or gpx files. Then they will work properly.

You will get one poi.gpi file every time you run poi loader. In your case, it will include both the csv and the gpx file. When you load the poi.gpi file into your garmin, it will rewrite the one that is already loaded in the garmin. If you wish to keep the one loaded in the garmin, you can rename the poi.gpi to SomethingElse.gpi and load that. Then you will have two gpi files on the Garmin.

.

Just to add to tomkovacic's response, if you have the same location in multiple POI files you will just see multiple icons on your GPS unit.

And if you want to test your Florida POIs you can put the unit in simulation mode and "pretend" you are in Florida.

Another idea:
You could try Hornbyp's GeePeeEx editor, with that you could merge the csv file with the gpx file and end up with one gpx file. You could also edit and remove the duplicates rather easily. You could also add the additional info for the ones merged from the csv file, such as phone # or what ever else you wanted to add.
