Alternative to Garmin Traffic Receiver

I don't want to spend the money right now on a traffic receiver, but I recently upgraded to a Windows Mobile smartphone. With the internet you can download a free Google Mobile Maps app that is very interesting. It can access the gps in the phone, show addresses, businesse, give directions and yes, even traffic reports, indicated by colors for many cities.
I don't pretend this would be better than a traffic receiver that would automatically route you around traffic, but this could be an inexpensive alternative for those gadget freaks that all ready have a smartphone with internet.
When traveling, one could look up an upcoming city about a half hour before entering it and see if the traffic is bad. If it is, you could adjust your route accordingly, using the detour function or setting a via point away from the affected roads.

Anyway, I am real impressed with this application, it's been fun to use and it could come in handy if you forgot your gps.

Alternative to Garmin Traffic Receiver? Update

I also installed Microsoft Live for Mobile. This seems to have its traffic reports updated more often and has some other interesting features. I have both applications installed. I must reiterate that I would like to someday get a traffic receiver, but these apps might help me in the meantime.
Here is the link for Microsoft Live:

Unfortunately, when I tried to download it onto my company blackberry, it froze up. "The IT Policy does not allow downloading third party applications"
