Make Sure

Make sure you are pointing to the directory/folder as the source, and not trying to point to a file. That is the most frequent point of confusion.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

It would be more helpful, if

It would be more helpful, if you describe what computer operating system you're using, what GPS you are trying to load onto, what files you're trying to load, and what process you're doing.

It's a lot to describe but it's really hard for us to help you with a vague post like that.

Didn't think it was possible to point to a file using the POI loader. From my recent usage it always only looked for folders to point to. I could be wrong but that's what I swear I remember just a couple of days ago.

People often say POI Loader is not working, because they are not allowed to highlight and therefore choose a file as the source. As you pointed out, it is impossible (with the original post) to accurately diagnose the problem, but the folder-vs-file issue is the most common misunderstanding of what POI Loader is instructing.
