Speed Limits Updated in Version 209.1?

Does anybody know if speed limits on roads have been expanded over the previous version? I am really impressed that my nuvi 750 displays speed limits on many roads and would be excited if this has been updated to include more. I've updated, but haven't had a chance to see if some more roads are included.

.

I can only assume so...personally, I have seen no updates in my area but that is not to say that they aren't there. I'd say it's all going to depend on your particular area.

I haven't seen any new speed

I haven't seen any new speed limits yet, but one road near my house which had an incorrect speed limit was corrected, so I'd wager that they added some too.

not sure

I don't know if I have that on my 660. But if anything, I thought the GPS encouraged speeding or shortest time travel, just that the POI files alert to red-light cameras and speed cameras. In other words, if you got an alert that a road were 25 mph speed limit, yet everyone were driving 40-50 (this is the case where I live), would you slow down as a result or your GPS alerting you (rhetorical question)?

Providence updates.

There have been some speed limit changes on 95 through northern RI. Where the 2009 map once had an incorrect 50mph, 2009.11 has now changed it to show a correct 45mph where the speed limit does drop through town. SO the shorter answer would be yes, there have been some speed limit updates. Now if there was only a way to customize the speeds you want the Nuvi to use when routing.

Slow Down

Since I'm such a wimp and a cheapskate about getting tickets, I would. A few tickets made me change my ways. It just might be another tool if I haven't seen a speed limit in a while.

Doesn't Apply

John,

Since you have a 660 you haven't seen the display the original post was about. On the 7xx and some other models there is a speed limit 'sign' on the screen showing the legal limit for a particular road. It isn't a nagging voice alert. The sign, like most things GPS, is purely advisory. It's 'very' handy here in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area where camera 'vans' seem to lurk around every corner. In areas like yours where it sounds like traffic normally flows much faster than the limit you'd just be able to ignore the little sign on the screen.

Cheers wink

not on nuvi 660

The nuvi 660 does not have the current road speed limit display feature. It was first introduced with the nuvi 7x0 series.
