Garmin Continues to Amaze me

I bought a Garmin 260 in June, 2008 and every time I use it I'm impressed. We're spending 2 months in the south while there is snow in Illinois and we've use it to find restaurants, post offices, Wal Marts, state parks, libraries and grocery stores. It's never failed us and we always arrive on target. What did I do before Garmin when I only had state road maps?

I know what you mean. I

I know what you mean. I travel for work so it is a life saver.

But not only that, now it will warn me of red light cameras and speed cameras. I don't speed or run lights, but it is still reassuring to have nonetheless.

GPS Units are Invaluable for Travelers

To me GPS Technology is amazing. Just consider the fact that your position on earth is being triangulated by a radio signal from satellites hundreds of miles over head!

We use the GPS Unit constantly when traveling and just driving around town. It is great to have such a device to assist you with your navigation needs.

Although a GPS unit has become invaluable to us while traveling, we still carry a good supply of maps. You never know when you might get caught in a major traffic stoppage and need to find a good detour.

Detour

With just a click of a button, my Magellan will reroute me around traffic congestion, and it isn't even a top of the line model.

i know what you all mean

i work for a soda co. and i drive all over the state going to gas station and supermarkets and before garmin i used mapquest and printed the maps up and look at the maps wile driving surprised so now that i have my garmin i know how long it will take for me to get here and if the is any problems on the road with msn direct

thanks garmin

No substitute for brains

Yep, I agree, I love the idea that I can fly anywhere, step into a rental car and start driving without fear of where I'm going.

I assume you guys heard what happened to these tourists in Brazil:

Not just a map!

AND - then you realise it is not just a map! Lots of the time I know where I am going but particularly on a long trip it is good to have an arrival time estimation (that is usually very accurate unless there is heavy traffic) - and you get a constant running update. Got to love it!

Detouring and Fail Safe Recovery

My Garmin will also route me around traffic, but in some cases a good overall view or perhaps a better route is provided by viewing a map. In addition if your GPS fails for some reason, you still have a map as a traveling resource.

My wife always makes fun of

My wife always makes fun of me since I use it locally. But, she keeps quiet when we use it to find stores and places to eat.

No yapping!

My wife has stopped yapping about my use of the Nuvi locally. I installed POIs like: Goodwill, Steinmart,Walgreens and some of her favorite haunts. That way if we are in a different part of town I can get her there in the most direct and efficient manner using the Nuvi.

Greatest invention in the last 36 years of my life!
Thanks Garmin!

I didn't know we had a

I didn't know we had a goodwill poi, I have to go investigate.

I'm more confident

When driving, I am much more confident with my Garmin. It has the potential to avoid getting lost and help you if lost. They are only as good as the maps though, so I try to keep mine as up to date as possible.

Garmin 650

My only wish is to have had a tracker on this Garmin so I don't have to put waypoints to link my pictures with the coordinates in order to get the gps location in the metadata of my photos. Guess I'll have to get a tracker type GPS Sigh~~~ Any suggestions?
