CVS File (editing with Quattro)

I upload POI's in the cvs format, open them in MS Excel, then may edit them, save them and load them into my Garmin GPS, using garmin loader.

I prefer to use Corel's (wordperfect)quattro spreadsheet as oposed to Excel. Quattro opens and edits just fine. Has anyone tried using this, and had success.
Mike

Probably OK

If it will save the edited file as a .CSV (not .cvs) file type, then you should be OK.

You can also look at and edit a .CSV file with any text editor.....like notepad.

Peter Norton, Bob Borland, Mitch Kapor... all early developers of "killer apps" for the fledgling PC, PC-XT, and AT models. Anybody remember Brickland and his app?

I prefer the Corel office

I prefer the Corel office suite (word perfect, quattro and such) over Microsoft office suite but unforunately the world is Microsoft Office ready!

It's a good thing that there's GPS systems or I would be ... always lost!

Please be careful when editing quotes!

OK, so I did a quote. Now I will post the message and go back and edit it. I do this all the time. It DOES work.

(Edit after posting a quote) You can change anything in the post, including the part you quote AND who it is attributed to........like I have now done to the quote above.

(Third edit)
In this case, no harm, no foul but one should be careful as sloppy editing CAN cause misunderstandings !! shock

Can you edit your post now -- after I reply to your post?

No but...

No but that is a different subject! That is NOT what you said to begin with.

We were talking about proof-reading immediately after you post and then correcting errors right then......weren't we ??

While it is possible, I would think that someone posting a reply in the few seconds it takes to look at your post for errors would be rather rare.

SO......it would be more proper to say "You can edit your own posts to correct errors, up to the time that someone posts a reply." Better ??

Whether or not you originally used the quote feature has no bearing on the discussion.

How could I have been talking about proof-reading when I referred to YOU using the Quote button on HIS post?????? I just found it ironic that your very post had prevented him from doing what you were suggesting. I agree that we should be more careful in our postings.

I have now gone back through

I have now gone back through and fixed the names on the quotes.

Let's get back on topic please.

Silly me. I just threw away full unopened Borland office suite because I figured nobody would use them anymore.

Figured out

Ya! I figured it out, just save in cvs format.
