nuvi 760 does not announce street names/places by name

Well I've had it since Christmas, and have never heard the voice announce a street name or place by name. I flipped through the settings screens a few times trying to find an enable/disable option and did not. I do have the latest firmware version installed ...
Any advise?

TTS
Look under Locale and see if you have a voice chosen that includes TTS in the name. Only the TTS voices can speak the names.
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Choose a voice file that has the TTS extension in order to get spoken street names. :)Under "languages"

My favorite one is Karen as I find the pronunciation clearer than Jill and Emily. But prepared for some funny pronnunciations no matter which one you use.

You didn't say for sure if you are navigating a route or just viewing the map as you drive. Street names for upcoming turns will only be announced if you are navigating a route to a specifc destination.
