Usually yes. But you can get it back again the same way you got it before.

Does it matter in your case?

Does it matter, if you are already a POI contributor like you are (at least according to your badge)? Is there anything an active member can do on this site that a POI contributor cannot?

Active members have free

Active members have free access to the red light camera database. Non active members do not.

active status

Key word here is Active.

But sometimes due to circumstances, one cannot post. (sickness, busines trips, vacations, other engagements, etc).

But the good thing here is. If you lose it. You can get it back.

Just Got a Garmin C330

I recently bought a C330 GPS and am extremely happy with it. Just how many personal POIs can I put in it? I believe the unit sports 2 MB of RAM. Is that correct ? If so, I should be able to put in hundreds of them. What do you think?

red light cameras--and posting

does that mean that if you don't post anything that you are not considered an active member--I am totally new to the puter and to the GPS--

From the link posted above

"How do I become an active member?

Becoming an active member is completely free.

You automatically become an active member when you've made posts in at least 3 of the last 5 weeks. Activity includes uploading POI files and/or posting in the discussion forums.

The weekly posting periods run Monday through Sunday (GMT). Active member status is updated once each week (on Monday mornings).

If timing of your first post is lucky (Saturday or early Sunday), you can become an active user in just a little more than 2 weeks. :)"

vegetables

well for some reason I am actually an active member today. yea!!!!!

What I am a pro at, is hacking WinCE based AllInOne GPS systems. As far as entering new POIs, I'm not so good at that. Huge credit out to the people that collect the POI info, that's hard work!!!

Access for POI contributors

I would think you'd want POI contributors to have the same access as active members, and in perpetuity -- at least if their contributions are of any use to anyone but themselves. Maybe not if it's a POI file of my own relatives smile. But after all it is the POI files that are the meat of this site.

Not always

POI files are good but I think all the topics about the GPS, how it gets userd, bugs, etc is here as well. Yes for some the poi are all they may want but I can see more here that the posts are more important than poi for others.. I have not really downloaded any poi ecept to view them to see what they are all about.. I am sure we can go back and forth on this.. lol

Whats what great about this site.. something for everyone!
