Phonebook issue with Verizon LG VX8550 and 265T

Trying to help out a coworker who got a 265T for Christmas. He is having a Bluetooth issue that is strange at best.

A call to Garmin resulted in the response that it is most likely an issue with Verizon, and it is true that they are notorious for locking down features on phones.

so here is what he is experiencing

he pairs up his phone with his nuvi just fine...and his LG asks if it is okay to send the phonebook...he says okay, and it says it is sending it and that it is complete.

but the Phonebook does not show up as an icon, so that he can choose an entry to touch and dial.

BUT, he can voice dial!

which means the 265T is USING the phonebook entries!

any other Verizon customer experiencing anything like this?

second weird part, is that I have the same exact phone, and I am also a Verizon customer, so we paired my phone with his 265T, and my phonebook shows up.

and his phonebook shows up on my 765T when we pair his phone with my nuvi.

so it has to be something with his 265T, correct?

we updated his firmware from 4.40 to 4.60.

just trying to help a buddy out by posting for him, until he gets a little more familiar with his GPS, and joins poi-factory.

any help would be most appreciated.

.

I can only address one issue, voice dial. This is not using the phone book on the GPS, nor is the GPS using the phone book on the phone. Voice Dial is a function of the phone, and the GPS is only acting as a remote microphone for the phone. So when you voice dial, the GPS has nothing to do with the phonebook entry, it's only passing your voice command to the phone.

This information should change some of the assumptions you're making about how well the Pairing is working.

I would make sure on the phone that you have given permission to upload the phone book. Look in the pair properties or permissions on the phone to make sure you have allowed it to upload.

you make an excellent point...I had not considered the remote mic possibility

I have verizon the only

I have verizon the only trouble I see is that you cant text message. My phone book is on there. Plus its not suppose to work with the Dare. I have the 660

I have verizon the only

I have Verizon and a motorola 815, it shows my phone bood and I can select names and dial from the screen with no problems. I use voice dial most of the time and agree all the gps does is act as a mic. good luck.

thanks for the feedback...every little bit of info will help when talking to Garmin again.

it's a shame...he looked forward to getting this 265T for Christmas, and specifically requested a Bluetooth capable model, and it isn't working for him.

don't ya just hate when a new toy doesn't work right? mad
