is my Garmin C320 useless for things other than navigation?

Hi All, I have owned a C320 for a few months, and getting to learn more about it.

It's great for navigation, but I want to load some POI files on it to make it even more useful.

I was extremely disappointed to find out that when I tried to load the zip code file the POI loader told me the C320 has not enough memory.

I did a search and it seems I can't load the POI files to the SD card?

This makes it nearly useless in terms of adding custom POIs...

I was excited to try to add POI files for CostCo, Home Depot, McDonald's, red light cameras, etc. But if the C320 doesn't even have enough memory to add a single zip code file, doesn't that make it useless for POI customization and use??

Do the Nuvi 200 / 205 have these limitations as well? Thanks for your help.

Limitations

The nuvi 200/205 will allow poi on a sd card.

You should be able to get 20,000 poi's on your streetpilot. You are trying to load some HUGE files. Do you really need all the US? Poi Verifier II will allow you to sort by state, allowing you to load the ones you will use.

It will not play wav or mp3, so don't bother loading them either. They just waste space.

The c3xx I think were one of the original auto gps with touch screen, color maps and the lower 48 states. They are probably 4-5 years old now, but still reliable to get you from point A to B.

Thanks. I am bummed I can't

Thanks. I am bummed I can't load the redlight camera POIs due to the limited memory. But the GPS is a great tool otherwise.

How did you determine?

How did you determine that it is incapable of holding the redlight camera file? Garmin claims the c320 is capable of handling POIs and the redlight file is relatively small. I'm surprised it would accept a few files of that size.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

.

That unit should have approximately 2MB of space for Custom POIs. This should amount to approximately 15,000 - 20,000 locations.
