Proximity Alerts

I have discovered that after loading all my custom POIs with icons and voice alerts and installing them manually, that some of the alerts only have a tone and not the voice alerts. What's up with that?

c330

If you are still using your garmin c330 it will not play mp3 files. Some of the nuvi's (200, 205, 25x) will play wav files though.

So could you provide more information if this doesn't help you.

SAME PROBLEM HERE...

And to top it off... if I put any voice alerts and playing my mp3's on the sd card, it just skip my music, so I decided to just keep it on the "ding" tone and it fixed the problem

I am using a C550. Loading

I am using a C550. Loading the file, icon and mp3 alert together. Some alerts work, others just have a tone. (BYA...I carefully checked spelling of files)

not sure

Ok - your c550 should work fine. The only thing that I can think of is possibly some of your mp3 files may have a double extension. make sure they don't say mcdonalds.mp3.txt or something.

Are the mp3 files ones that were downloaded from here? I would try and download them again. Make sure that they play on your computer ok before you use them. They could be corrupt.

Someone else may have other ideas, but sounds like it should work for you.

The only other thing that I could think of is that the coordinates for the files that are not alerting are too far from the road, so the unit doesn't think it is on your route. Could that be the case?

He said he is getting the tone alert, so I agree, the most likely thing would be a double extension. It is amazing how often that seems to happen. Make sure your computer is NOT set to "hide extensions for known file types".
