Deleting custom poi from nuvi 260

i am new to the loading of poi into my nuvi 260 and have loaded some into my gps with the poi installer from garmin. the only problem is that i want to delete some of those poi's from there. can i get someones help? i am using windows xp on a pc. and how do you choose where i can put those poi into the directories that are already in the gps and not the custom poi that come up in the unit. please help.

reload

The built-in POIs are pretty much there to stay (AFAIK). As to the POIs that you load yourself, they are overwritten the next time you load POIS, so whenever you load POIs you have to load all that you want in there (workaround to this given below). You can also delete all POIs without loading more with the POI loader.

The POIs that you load are placed in a file called poi.gpi in he POI directory in the Garmin. If you rename this file from poi.gpi to somethingelse.poi then it will not be overwritten when you next load POIs, and the gps will still find those POIs when it boots up, combining all of the pois that you have in all .gpi files. This gives you a way to avoid having to upload a lot of POIs whenever you want to make an addition.

You can't do what you are asking -- custom POIs cannot be added to the built-in categories.
