This has probably been asked before but I can’t find it. On my old Garmin or my Lowrance (for the boat), I can reverse any route to track back to the starting location. I don’t see such a feature with the Garmin 750. So far I’ve just selected the starting point to track back and let the Garmin re-calculate every time I take a slightly different route than the one Garmin picked. So is there a better way or do this or do I have to make two routes (route there and a route back) for the Garmin 750.
Nope. It doesn't have that feature. You would have to make two routes.
If so, you could always drive back following the track log created when you got there in the first place, of course, you wouldn't get directions per se, you would just have to follow the track log highlighted.
Would that work?
the Garmin Streetpilot series used to have a ton of features, then they stripped them out, and are adding them back as options in the many different nuvi Models. They were all in one units at one time.
Just bought two Garmins as gifts, then for myself i'm waiting for what comes after the nuvi before I upgrade my streetpilot c550. as the bottom falls out o the economy Garmin will have to play ball and get with it, making a unit that is feature rich and at a low cost, just to stay competitive. thats what I'm going to wait for.
You can't do it on the Nuvi itself, but MapSource will reverse a route for you. Just load your route into MapSource and then select Invert Route. Save it back with a new name and you'll have two routes; A to B and B to A.
I thought of that also. The thing I like about the reverse route feature is one less route to load on the unit. Thanks all for your input.
Not as good as the unit itself doing it, but using Mapquest provides that easily. Downside is of course it can't be done on the fly...
Easy enough. Before you begin the trip, make the starting point the destination and the actual destination a via point. When you arrive at the actual destination your via point, you will then be directed back to the original starting point.
But the unit may not direct you back the same way you came.
The reverse route will not include any customizing VIA point i.e. if you have change the original route calculated by the program. In fact, this appears to be the way, Mapquest, Google Maps and Streets and Trips works.
There must be some eay way to reverse a route to go back the exact same way you came along!
