just do it

Put card in gps. Connect gps to computer. Run POIloader. Select external card in POLloader rather than Garmin internal memory. Transfer.

There is little reason to do this in most cases, and if you do the gps will ask you if you want to transfer the POIs to internal memory when restarted and no computer connected. But it can be done.

OK, thanks. I must have

OK, thanks. I must have overlooked that option in the POI loader. I wasn't sure how much internal memory I had.

The option to get to the external card will be in the drop down list as long as the card is inserted. I'm not certain of your available memory in that model but it is likely generous (and you can remove things like foreign voices to make more space). Look at the Garmin drive under "my computer" to see how much space is free. POIs are really small, you can load lots and not eat much space.

Ok, thanks for your help.

OK, I loaded the Georgia

OK, I loaded the Georgia Fuelman POIs that I found on this site. However, when I try to locate the nearest Fuelman store, it takes an extremly long time to find the locations. One store about 50 miles from my home pops up within seconds, but the ones within 10 miles of my house never load.

Are you searching for them under Extras/Custom-POIs? If you are searching under the categories provided by the maps, then you are searching the built-in POIs and not the ones you loaded.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

And I thought I was doing somthing wrong.

They were under the extras menu. This is a very helpful forum.

The data

It is possible that some of the stores are not listed in the file, we do make mistakes from time to time...smile If you find stores missing make sure to let the maintainer of the file know.

Also, you will only see the closest 50 locations. If you are looking for one farther away you can use the spell feature at the bottom if you know the city or store number you want (depends on how each location it titled).
